For winning Commander in Chief's Annual Award for
Installation Excellence
Congressman Jack Kingston (R/Ga.-1) announces that the
Department of Defense has named Fort Stewart and Hunter
Army Air Field as winners of the 2006 Commander in Chief's
Annual Award for Installation Excellence.
"Ft. Stewart and Hunter deserve this award. General
Webster and the 3rd ID have done a great job in Iraq and
Col. Kidd and the staff have made sure everything is
handled at home and ready for their return,"
Congressman Kingston said. "This is the third
straight year they have received this award because they
make sure that the soldiers' quality of life is excellent.
I congratulate everyone at Ft. Stewart and Hunter on a job
well done."
Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld made the announcement
yesterday. The Commander in Chief's Annual Award for
Installation Excellence recognizes the outstanding and
innovative efforts of the people who operate and maintain
U.S. military installations. The recipients of this
highly competitive Presidential award were selected for
their exemplary support of Department of Defense missions.
Excellent installations enable better mission performance
and enhance the quality of life for military men and women
and their families. Each winning installation
succeeded in providing excellent working, housing and
recreational conditions for the people assigned to that
installation.
