Warm days and cool nights. Man, I love this time of year!

...It’s also a great week to be a  sports fan... The  NCAA basketball championship, (Congratulations to Robbie and his Florida
Gaytors), Major League baseball started Sunday night, and the Braves won their opening day game, and, saving the best for last, the Masters kicks off in Augusta.
If you ever get the chance to go to Augusta National, go! Even if you’re not a golf fan, the place is just absolutely beautiful. And if you are a golfer, I can promise you the grass you stand on as a spectator is nicer than most fairways you play on!
Tiger Woods is the favorite, and well deserved, especially since his Daddy’s sick and that’ll get him even more pumped up to win, but I’m gonna go way out on a limb and pick Geoff Ogilvie to win.

...Now for some things that have me pretty upset. I don’t like to use this space to rant and rave about things I’m bothered about, but what the heck. First, I’m upset that Katie Couric is going to CBS to be the Evening News anchor. I’m gonna miss her in the mornings on the Today Show, and I really don’t like the CBS News, I think they’re too liberal.
Next, this Cynthia McKinney situation with her punching a Capitol Hill Policeman who tried to stop her from walking around a security gate when he didn’t recognize her with her new hairdo. I’m really tired of her being the victim. I did have to give credit to the Democrats who took a stand against her on the matter though.
And finally, the mother in Vidalia who’s child ate her crack cocaine and died. Again, I’m sick of her being portrayed as a victim, ...“They can’t prove that crack cocaine was hers!” Another sign this world is in it’s last days if you ask me!

...Stephen Newsome of Meldrim wrote to let us know that the 2007 Georgia State budget includes $25,000 for new playground equipment at Meldrim Memorial Park. He wanted to especially thank Senator Jack Hill and Representative Buddy Carter for their part in making this happen, as well as Representative Jon Burns, Commissioner Hubert Sapp, Commissioner Myra Lewis, Commissioner Jeffrey Utley, Commissioner Reginald Loper, Commissioner Verna Phillips, County Administrator Dr. J. Michael Moore and Clarence Morgan.

...Things I learned while reading about other things...
• Police in Springfield, Massachusetts described the scene as “A baby shower gone bad.” Three men were arrested after an argument broke out between the father-to-be and a man dating his ex-girlfriend. Two other men jumped in to help their other man, and one ended up pulling a gun and shooting the father-to-be. He’s in stable condition at a hospital. The mother-to-be was hit with a large stick, taken to the hospital and released.
• A Ventura, California teacher kept a 40mm shell on his desk as a paperweight. He’d found it while hunting years ago. Monday, he made the mistake of using it to try and squash a bug crawling on his desk, setting the live ammo off and blowing off the man’s hand.
