I’m not too worried about the Groundhog seeing his shadow... I can
stand six more week’s of the kind of weather we’ve had this winter!

...If my math’s right, we (Pooler) should be finished paying off the
City of Savannah’s Capital Cost Recovery Fee already. I’m basing that
on an initial cost of $4,952,500, which is the amount Pooler was to
pay in the initial agreement, based on paying $1415 for each of 3500
new homes or ERU’s. If we’re paying $55,000 per month like we did in
November, that comes to $5,280,000 in 8 years time. We’ll be asking
Pooler to give us the exact numbers on what we’ve spent in capital
cost recovery fees to Savannah since we first agreed to buy their
treated Savannah River water in the first place. I’ve just got to
wonder why we keep paying for capital cost recovery when that pipe
that connects us to the treatment plant in Port Wentworth should
already be paid for! Couldn’t the City of Pooler use that revenue to
cover needed expenses at Pooler’s wastewater treatment plant? Or to
reduce our monthly water bills?

...Thanks to those of you that called to alert us to the
disappearing Spirits at Effingham Hospital! I’m guessing someone up
there hasn’t heard of Freedom of the Press before!

...The next American Red Cross Blood Drive, will be from 2pm-7pm, on
Monday, February 13th, at the Effingham County Recreation Dept., 808
Hwy. 119 South, Springfield. Give the gift of life!

...Notable Passings...  The first lady of the Civil Rights Movement,
Coretta Scott King, passed away at the age of 78 Monday after a
battle with ovarian cancer. She’ll be remembered for leading the
march in Memphis that her husband was to have led the day before his
funeral.

...Things I learned while reading about other things...
• A 24 year old California man has been ordered to serve 20 hours of
community service and 24 hours in jail for punching a Police
Officer’s horse when Officers were called to control a fraternity
party that got out of hand back in October. The Judge thinks the
community service should be spent with a shovel at the Police horse
barn!
• A Murfreesboro, Tennessee man was stopped on a highway after he
nearly ran a woman off the road with his erratic driving. The Officer
walked up to the driver’s side window and discovered the man wasn’t
drunk, ...he was reading porn magazines! He’ll go before the Judge on
Feb. 22nd.

...Take care this  week, stay safe, and in the words of the great
Red Skelton, “May God Bless.”
