Obituaries
Bea McLeroy Sullivan
Rincon - Bea McLeroy Sullivan, 86, died Sunday, March 19, 2006 at Hospice Savannah.
Mrs. Bea was born March 7, 1920 in Cullman, AL. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Rincon and was a homemaker. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Hubert R. Sullivan, and grandson, Thomas R. Sullivan.
Survivors include her son, Phillip R. Sullivan and Gaile of Rincon; 2 grandsons, Craig Sullivan and Peggy of Rincon and Jeremy Sullivan of Oliver; 4 great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Calley, Brianna, and Chad; a brother, Rex McLeroy of Hanceville, AL; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were 3 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel. Rev. Barry Owens officiated.
Interment was Effingham Memorial Gardens.
Remembrances may be given to Hospice Savannah, P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416.

Clifford "Doc" Boatright
Newington- Clifford "Doc" Boatright, 80, died March 19, 2006 at Candler Hospital.
The Sanford, FL native had retired from Union Camp after 44 years of service. He was a member of Morningside Baptist Church , but had been attending Middleground Baptist Church. He had been a member of the Savannah Civil Defense and was an active member of Newington Fire Dept. Mr. Boatright was predeceased by his infant son, Dale Boatright and his triplet brother, Chester Boatright.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Bobbie Phillips Boatright of Newington; two sons & daughters-in-law, Mike and Debi Boatright of Guyton and Tommy and Glenda Boatright of Ellabell; three daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Bruce Crosby of Guyton, Sherry and Jim Youmans of Rincon, and Lisa and Jack Monroe of Guyton; two brothers, Zeke Boatright of Bloomingdale and Jimmy Boatright of Lyons; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral: 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2006 in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Ken Huffingham and Rev. Jordan Goodwill officiated. Pallbearers were Shane Sanders, Terry Bloom, Butch Boatright, Michael Boatright, Skippy Boatright and Keeter Murray.
Interment was in Effingham Memorial Gardens.
Remembrances may be sent to Newington Fire Department, P.O. Box 104, Newington, GA 30446.

Gladys Wise Nunnally
Clyo - Gladys Wise Nunnally, 81, died Sunday, March 19, 2006 at Sunbridge Care.
The Bryan County native was a member of Rincon First Christian Church and a homemaker.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, David and Anita Nunnally of Clyo; daughter and son-in-law, Katrina and Robert Lienhard of Pittsburgh, PA; 4 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Annie Scott of Smyrna, GA and Betty Bohannon of Albany, GA; and a brother, Jackie Wise of Keokuk, IA.
Graveside funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hillcrest Abbey East. Rev. Stephen Parker officated.
Remembrances may be given to Alzheimer’s Association, 1925 Century Blve., NE, Atlanta, GA 30345-3315.

Mr. Edwin D. Smith, Sr.
Pooler-Mr. Edwin D. Smith, Sr., 69, died on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at Memorial Health University Medical Center.
Born in Nashville, TN, Mr. Smith had lived in Pooler since 1974 and was of the Church of Christ faith. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 21 years of service and retired from the City of Bloomingdale after 21 years of service.
Survivors include his companion, Audrey Robbins of Savannah; children, Joanne Smith of Milledgeville, Edwin Smith, Jr. of Pooler, Joey & Pam Smith of Tampa, FL and Peggy Craft of Pooler; grandchildren, Christy & Celso Espino of Guyton, Tyler Christiansen of Milledgeville and Andrew Smith of Pooler; great-grandchildren, Katie “Tink” Smith of Tampa, FL and Jose “Taco” Espino of Guyton; siblings, Wayne & Patricia Smith of Nashville, TN, William & Edna Smith of Manchester, TN, Bill & Wylene Albright of Nashville, TN and Bubba & Mary Dee Smith of Lavergne, TN and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services were held at 3 p.m. on Saturday in the chapel of the funeral home.
Remembrances may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Mr. Bill Deal
Pooler-Mr. Bill Deal, 81, died on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at Shadowmoss Plantation.
The Sharpesville, PA native served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II and the Korean War.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Debbie & Warren Brickner of Pooler; granddaughter, Ashley Brickner of Pooler; sister; Mildred J. Nielsen of Rocky River, OH.
Entombment will be at Alleghany Memorial Park in Pittsburgh, PA.

James Lamar "PaPa Smurf" Wise
Rincon - James Lamar "PaPa Smurf" Wise, 61, died Sunday, March 12, 2006, at Effingham County Hospital.
Mr. Wise was born in Savannah, but lived in Effingham County for many years. He was a heavy equipment mechanic and a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Wise of Rincon; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry Lamar Wise and Kathy of Springfield; a daughter, Michelle Wise of Rincon; a brother and sister-in-law, Henry Quinton and Barbara Wise of Rincon; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lois and Wayne Garner of Mississippi, and Jean and Dan Harris of Atlanta; special friends, Ronnie and Diane Douglas of Springfield and Ward Herring of Rincon; two grandchildren, Nicole Wise and Wesley Aaron Wise and a host of loving nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday evening, March 15, 2006, at Riggs Funeral Home.
Funeral Services were held on Thursday, March 16, 2006, in the Ben Wages Chapel of Riggs Funeral Home, with Reverend Andy Brownley officiating.
Honorary pallbearers were: Ward Herring, Ronnie Douglas, Ricky Timmons, Roy McCracken, Tim Griffin and Don Merchant.
Interment was private.
Riggs Funeral Home in Guyton was in charge of all arrangements.
