Operation PB & J, A Local Outreach Ministry, Needs Help
Open Door Ministries is a worship-based ministry in the Savannah area. They hold worship services every Wednesday and Friday at 7:30pm and Sunday mornings at 10am. The majority of their efforts is directed to reaching out to local underprivileged children.
For several months now, they have been going into two of the Chatham County housing apartments to reach out to the children of the inner city, and have upgraded their services to the children to include on-site sidewalk Sunday School.
The program they offer is called Operation PB ‘n J. The name originated when the ministry started taking peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to the children, played games and interacted with them to earn their trust. Many of the children that Open Door Ministries is reaching out to are products of broken homes. The living conditions of these children are horrible and the church is giving them hope and helps them realize that they can have a future.
Open Door Ministries has two 15-passenger vans which are used to transport the children to and from the Bible Study, youth group meetings, and Sunday services. On Sundays, snacks are served in their children’s church, which has been named Kingdom Builders, and lunch is prepared for everyone.
In addition to these services, the children are learning music and the arts. The ministry provides tutoring and counseling for the kids. Many of them have problems at home and school and the ministry is very encouraging. Some of the youth come and spend the whole weekend at the church because of the joy they experience there.
This is truly a blessing, but has become rather costly. “We are growing in number with these children at a rapid pace,” says Pastor Royce Bush. “However, we are limited in what we can do because of our limited resources. I pray that you will consider helping us in meeting the needs of these children in our community. We may be all the help and hope they have.”
If you’d like to help, or receive more information about Open Door Ministries, you may contact Pastor Royce Neil Bush by phone: 704-3057, 660-7388, or 964-5001, by email: Pastor_Neil@odminc.org, or you can visit them online: www.odminc.org.

MY ANSWER
By Billy Graham

Q:  I've given up on God because He doesn't seem to care about me. I can't even begin to list all the problems I have - money, health, job, family tensions, you name it. I know you say God cares about us but I haven't seen any evidence of it in my life. - Mrs. L.W.

A: Have you ever stopped to list the good things in your life? Sometimes we get so caught up with the bad things that are happening to us that we fail to see the other side. As the old hymn says, "Count your many blessings; name them one by one - and it will surprise you what the Lord has done."
Don't misunderstand me, however; your problems are real, and I know that at times it seems like God has forgotten you or hidden His face from you. Even some of the Bible's greatest men and women felt that way on occasion. In the midst of his pain and loss, Job cried out, "Your hands shaped me and made me. Will you now turn and destroy me?" (Job 10:8).
But in time Job realized that God still loved him, and even if he didn't understand why he was experiencing so much suffering and heartache, God still could be trusted. The turning point came when Job looked beyond his problems and focused instead on God and His greatness and love. Then he could say, "I know that my Redeemer lives" (Job 19:25).
This is why I urge you to turn to Christ and ask Him to come into your life. God loves you - and the proof is that His only Son was willing to endure the pain and death of the cross for you. Open your heart to Him, and then ask Him to give you the wisdom to change what you can, and the courage to endure what you can't.

But God
by Gary Toole, Minister
This preacher once preached a sermon entitled, “But God.” I thought about that and realized that there’s been a lot of “But God” in my life.
Near death accidents, but God was there. In severe trouble, but God was with me. I could have lost my life at the hand of someone, but God stayed the hand of death. I was lost and undone without God or His son, but God found me. I was spiritually blind, but God made me see. I was bound, but God set me free. I was going down a path of destruction, but God turned me around. I was on my way to a devil’s hell, but God saved, sanctified, and filled me with the sweet Holy Ghost. I was sinking down into a miry pit of clay, but God rescued me. I was a wretched sinner, but God saved a wretch like me.
Can you say amen?

Grace, Not Law
By Nicholas A. Kennicott

“For sin will have no dominion over you since you are not under law but under grace.” Romans 6:14 ESV

It seems all too frequent in life that we don’t feel like Christians. Sometimes we do or say things and wonder why we seem to be so far from God when we know we’ve been saved by His marvelous grace.
If you’re a born-again Christian, it doesn’t mean that bad things are not going to happen. The Bible says that every last one of us sins and falls short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Some of the most difficult days in life are when we’re certain of our salvation by grace alone, yet wonder why bad things seem to happen.
God sent us grace. We didn’t generate it by ourselves. It was a gift given by God. There’s no fault in Grace; there is only fault in the flesh. Sin is always present where we live, but thank God that Paul said, “Sin will not have dominion over you since you are not under the law but under Grace.”
Being “under the law” means that law-keeping is the way we will provide a righteousness that lets us stand before God. If we treat the law in such a way that it provides the righteousness that justifies us, then we are “under the law.” And this is true whether you are trusting God to enable you to keep the law, or trusting yourself. It doesn't make any difference when the issue is: what provides the righteousness that justifies us? If it is law-keeping, we are "under the law."
The reason this is deadly for us sinners is that none of us can succeed in using the law to provide a righteousness that puts us right with God. What then shall we do?
Jesus Christ perfectly kept the law by faith, and thus performed a righteousness that will maintain a right standing with God. And so this righteousness of Christ is credited to our account.
What it means then to be "under grace," is that Christ is all our righteousness for justification. We receive it in him as a gift through faith alone. And the opposite is being "under law," which means that Christ is not our righteousness, but law-keeping is.
I don’t know about you, but I’m glad that I am not “under law.” As I go back and read the Bible to see just what “law” is, I know that I am too weak to fulfill that which God requires. What an unexplainable joy to know that I am justified by faith in Jesus Christ alone.
Are you under the law? If Jesus is not your personal Lord and Savior, I’m sorry to say that you are. It is only by faith in Jesus that we are able to escape the wrath of God for our sinful nature and inability to fulfill the law. Trust Him, lean on Him, and let Him change you from the inside out, by grace, and grace alone.
