Obituaries
Jean Francis Forrester Dominy
Mrs. Jean Dominy of Bremerton, Washington died September 11th after a long illness.
She lived with her husband C.B. Dominy, II, on the shores of Puget Sound, for over 60 years. They met and were married in New Orleans, LA where she was teaching school, and returned to her native Seattle to settle a short while later.
She is survived by her husband, C.B. "Tex" Dominy of Tracyton, WA, her sons, Charles B. Dominy, III of south Guyton, GA, Frank Dominy, of San Diego, CA, daughters Lee Anne Derror of Poulsbo, WA, Carol Gardner of Seattle, WA and Betty Dominy of Everest, WA.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer Corbitt and Kirsten Dominy of Springfield, GA, Elizabeth Pare, of south Guyton, GA, and six great grandchildren.
Her interment was attended by family members only at the family cemetery at Tracyton, WA September 23rd followed by a memorial service for friends and family September 24th at the Tracyton United Methodist Church in Tracyton, WA where she had been a life long member.

Glennis O. Bragg
Rincon - Glennis O. Bragg, 79, passed on Saturday, October 7, 2006 at Hospice Savannah.
Glenn was the first boy born in Savannah on January 1, 1927. He served with the Merchant Marines Fleet during WWII making many voyages across the Atlantic to supply our troops in Europe.
Glenn worked for Union Camp for over 36 years and was a member of Boilermakers Local #26. He was a past member of the First Baptist Church of Port Wentworth and accepted Jesus as his savior there in 1958.
Glenn is preceded into eternal life by his wife of 56 years, Grace Boatright Bragg, and daughter, Ramona Denise Simpson.
He is survived by 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Greg Bragg of Rincon, David and Melissa Bragg of Jacksonville, FL; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Shirley Horton and Martha Edenfield both of Rincon; and many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel.
Interment was in Emit Grove Baptist Church Cemetery near Statesboro.

Roger Willam "Billy" Dasher
Marlow - Roger William "Billy" Dasher, 44, died Saturday, October 7, 2006 at Candler Hospital.
Billy was a lifelong resident of Effingham County and a member of Sand Hill Baptist Church. He was a welder. He was preceeded in death by his father, Roger William Dasher, Sr., and brother, Joey Mixon.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Eleen Parker Dasher Eason and James of Marlow; 2 brothers, Russell F. Dasher of Springfield and Robert Louis Dasher of Marlow; and a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sand Hill Baptist Church.
Interment was in the church cemetery.

Bertie Mae Perkins Blalock
Rincon - Bertie Mae Perkins Blalock, 80, died Sunday, October 8, 2006 at her residence.
The Chatham County native was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Claude Blalock. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mizell Perkins and Molly Parker Perkins, brothers, Lewis Perkins, Junior Perkins, and Walter Perkins, and sister, Cassie Stembridge.
She is survived by her 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Joanne & Wes Wesley and Debra & Kenneth Gay of Rincon; 7 grandchildren, Kimberly & Christopher Redman, Kevin & Season Wesley, Phyllis & David Phelps, Karmin & Richard Sizemore, Matthew & Tammy Gay, Krissy Wesley, and Keith Wesley; 9 great-grandchildren, Josh & Taylor Eagans, Jennifer & Kelly Redman, Annsleigh, Kasey and Kourtney Sizemore, Carson Gay, Bethany Phelps; 2 sisters, Wilma Jones of Ridgeland, SC; and Katherine Shea of Rincon; and numerous nieces and nephews; 2 sisters-in-law, Jacqueline Shearouse of Rincon and Mary Blalock of Savannah.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fellowship Bible Church.
Interment was in Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Pembroke.

Lottie Scott
Lottie Scott, 81, of Savannah, GA passed Thursday, October 4, 2006.
Born in Blackshear, GA, she was wed to her childhood sweetheart, and was a member of Bull Street Baptist Church. Throughout her life she was known for her pecan pie and fried chicken.
Survivors; husband of  61 years, Joseph Scott; daughters and son-in-law, Penelope and Paul DiBlasio, and Susan  S. Mason, all of Savannah; grandchildren, Hilary (Andrew) Sims, Josette DiBlasio, Alex S. Mason  and Angelo DiBlasio; brothers, Jasper L. Dixon, of Waycross, GA, Eugene Dixon, of Colo, SC; sister, Bonnie Murray, of Starke, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Serviceswere held at  11 A.M. Saturday, October 7, 2006, at the Chapel of Fairhaven Funeral Home.
Internment was at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Fairhaven Funeral Home & Crematory was in charge of all arrangements.

Deborah “Debbie” Riggs
Deborah “Debbie” Riggs, 51, passed Thursday, September 28, 2006, at Memorial Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lorin Riggs and son, Shane Riggs.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Nicole Riggs, of Guyton; mother “mama” Evelyn K. Smith Macumber, of Metter, sister, Mary Conner, of FL; brothers, Carl Smith, of Rincon, and Larry Kersey, of Guyton; uncle, Charles Craven, of Guyton; aunt, Lena Craven, of Rincon; niece, Selena Conner; nephews, Jared and Chad Rigdon, Jay and Eric Smith, Josh Kersey, Brad Flanders, Justin Gauthrip, and Daniel Craven; grandchildren, Taylor and Jordan Rigdon.
Services were held September 29, 2006 at 11 A.M. in the Chapel of Fairhaven Funeral Home.
Fairhaven Funeral Home & Crematory was in charge of all arrangements.

Ralphine G. Armour
Rincon - Ralphine G. Armour, 70, died, Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at her residence.
The South Carolina native was a member of Ashley River Baptist Church in Charleston. She retired from Memorial Medical Center after 23 years.
Survivors include her husband, Walter A. Armour of Rincon; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Sherri and Rickey Price of Sylvania, and Shoni and Adam Fritts of Rincon; 2 grandsons, Shawn Fischer of Sylvania and Chandler Fritts of Rincon; a brother, Cecil R. Smith of Charleston, SC; a sister, Mary Ann Erlinger of Fayetteville, AR; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday in the chapel.
Interment will follow in Effingham Memorial Garden.
Remembrances may be given to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL.

Mr. Homer M. Baker
Mr. Home M. Baker, 68, died Saturday, October 7, 2006, at his home.
The Chatham County native retired from Georgia Pacific. He most recently worked with his son at Klean Sweep Floor Maintenance. He was a member of the West Effingham Volunteer Fire Department, the Effingham First Responders, and was a vocalist and guitarist with the Glorylanders Gospel Quartet.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry Baker of Guyton; children, H. Marlin and Leigh K. Baker of Rincon and Lanora A. Baker of Port Wentworth; grandchildren, Megan L. Baker, Jacob D. Baker, and Charlee S. Baker; step-children, Amy Baldree of Key West, FL and Trey Cooler of Greensboro, NC; sister, Betty Daley of Hinesville; brother, Jerry Baker of Jacksonville, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10 AM on Wednesday, October 11 in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial followed at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Mr. Joseph E. Hinely, Jr.
Mr. Joseph E. Hinely, Jr., 85, died Friday, October 6, 2006, after a period of illness.
The Chatham County native was a member of the First Baptist Church of Garden City where he was a member of the C & S Sunday School Class. Mr. Hinely was one of the original members of the Georgia 165th Air National Guard and served his country in the US Army and US Air Force. He saw action in the Asiatic-Pacific, African, Middle East, and European theaters during WWII and served in the Far East during the Korean War. He was the past commander of the D.A.V. Chapter 8, was a member of the American Legion Post 36, former chairman of the Veteran’s Council of Chatham County. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 660, National Order of Trench Rats, Solomon’s Lodge #1, F & AM, the Scottish and York Rite Bodies of Masonry and the Alee Temple Carnival Unit where he had served as Treasurer. He was a charter member of the Savannah Association of Flying Air National Guardsmen and the Georgia Salzburger Society.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Katherine G. Hinely of Garden City; children and spouses, Joseph E. Hinely, III and Bethany of Garden City, Frances Overstreet and William of Tybee Island and Thomas D. Hinely and Susan of Falls Church, VA; grandchildren, Joseph E. Hinely, IV, Matthew Brannon Hinely, Shaun Overstreet, William Roy Overstreet, Ryan Hinely, and Laura Hinely; great-grandchildren, Crystal Overstreet, Cassidy Lang and Ethan Lang; brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Ethel Hinely of Port Wentworth; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 PM on Monday, October 9 at Garden City First Baptist Church. Burial was at Hillcrest Abbey East Cemetery.

Mrs. Norma Bower
Mrs. Norma Bower, 79, died Sunday, October 8, 2006, at Hospice Savannah.
Mrs. Bower was a Savannah native and lived for many years in Florence, South Carolina before moving back to Savannah. While living in Florence, she was a member of the Florence Art Association and the Florence Symphony Guild. She was a charter member of Qinby United Methodist Church. She was a retired Secretary for Seaboard Coastline, Savannah Machine and Foundry, and has also worked for the Coble Dairies in Florence. Mrs. Bower was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Donald S. Bower and her parents, Lonar Lanson and Margaret Belle Hall.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Lon Eugene and Kathy Bower of Florence, SC and Brett Sawyer and Paula Bower of Rincon; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Morgan of Savannah; and several nieces and nephews.
Cryptside services were held at 1 PM on Wednesday, October 11 at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Rev. Laburn D. “Tony” Saxon
Rev. Laburn D. “Tony” Saxon, 68, of Savannah, died Friday, October 6, 2006, at Candler Hospital.
Rev. Saxon was born in Marlow, Georgia, on July 25, 1938 and had lived in Savannah since 1961. He was the beloved Pastor of Fort Argyle Full Gospel Fellowship in Savannah for the past 13 years and had previously spent 20 years in Evangelical Music Ministry.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Betty Dickerson Saxon of Savannah; children, Patti Nelms of Savannah, Tonya Geraca of Savannah, Tony Saxon, Jr. of Rincon, and Sandra Burnsed of Bloomingdale; brothers and sisters, Ray Saxon of Statesboro, Brenda Saxon, Linda Saxon Lowe, and Richard Saxon, all of Marlow, and Larry Saxon of Guyton; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held from 7 to 9 PM on Monday, October 9 at Fort Argyle Full Gospel Fellowship. Rev. Douglas Lane officiated.

Mrs. Geraldine N. Allen
Mrs. Geraldine N. Allen died Tuesday, October 10, 2006, at Candler General Hospital after an extended illness.
Mrs. Allen was a native of Chatham County and formerly employed with General Electric Company.
Survivors include her husband, John L. Allen, II of Savannah; her mother, Georgia Nanfria of Savannah; sister, Gloria Skutch of Savannah; niece, Tina Boaen of Savannah.
Private services will be held at a later date.
Fountain Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
