THE SPIRIT WORKS!

A Tribute to Our Heroes

At the Veteran's Park in Springfield on this beautiful Memorial Day, with a slight cool breeze blowing, the Tribute to Our Heroes was presented to a crowd of 400+. All seated in chairs, standing in the rear, seated on the grass and lining the roadside just to pay Tribute to our Fallen Heroes.
Under the breeze blowing, were American Flags, the flags of each branch of service and the POW/MIA banner. There were many wheelchairs occupied by Viet-Nam vets, some WW II vets dressed in their class "A" uniforms, ...Army, ...Navy, ...American Legion, ...Purple Heart Members and many ex-military in civilian clothes.
The Master of Ceremonies, Mr. Thomas G. Allen, presented Captain Brad Lewis, Chaplain, 3/160 Special Operations Aviation Regiment to offer the Invocation. This was followed by the Effingham High School Junior Air Force R.O.T.C. Presentation of Colors led by Major Danny Burgstiner.
The Star Spangled Banner was sung and led by Captain Mike Sherbak, U.S. Naval Reserve and backed up by the Community Choir composed of choir members of the First Baptist Church of Rincon and Springfield, under the direction of Ms. Susan Hartzog. Then the Pledge to the Flag was led by Major Burgstiner.
There was the Welcome Address by Fourth District County Commissioner Reginald Loper. Songs were sung in honor of each branch of the military and Veterans would stand when the song of their branch of service was played. I noticed many tears in the crowd, myself included.   Read More

IT'S A 50 YEAR CELEBRATION!

On June 9 and 10, the Guido Evangelistic Association will celebrate 50 years of ministry. From a near-fatal automobile accident near Conyers, Georgia, while the Guidos were traveling to conduct a revival in Avondale Estates, has grown a world wide witness of the Word that spans seven continents and reaches 90 million people annually.
There will be a large tent that will seat 2,000 for events on Saturday and the Celebration on Sunday. Saturday?s events will include displays, clowns, puppets, magicians, musical groups, and a display from the Raptor Center of Georgia Southern University, activities for children and a free lunch. A history of the ministry will be on display in the warehouse that will describe the fifty-year ministry of The Guidos with pictures, stories and memorabilia as it has changed and grown over the years. Events Saturday will begin at 9:00 a.m.
The main Celebration of the anniversary will begin Sunday at 3:00 p.m.? Included in this service will be The Encouragers, the Lefevre Quartet, two-time Grammy Award winner Archie Jordan who will present his new song describing the Guidos ministry and special guest, Sonny Perdue, Governor of Georgia. Dr. Michael Guido will bring a message that will review the significant events of how God has worked in and through them. It will be a weekend filled with praise, worship, celebration and commemoration. Come join us if you can. This is a once in a lifetime event!    Read More
